When Realtor Steve Valentine heard that his client Priya Darbari was going to be in Lake Arrowhead with her school district, Keppel Union, he invited her and her colleagues to enjoy a complimentary Ballroom Burn class.

Darbari and her husband had purchased a home with Valentine’s help in Lake Arrowhead. The Keppel Union School District in the Antelope Valley came to the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa for a leadership retreat where they established goals, their vision and plans for the upcoming school year.

Valentine has a special bond with Darbari as they are both cancer survivors.

During the class, Valentine said, “I gave them a full Ballroom Burn experience with no dance partner required.” The dances they learned included cha cha, rhumba and a cowboy line dance.

The Keppel Union superintendent of schools, who organized the retreat, sent Valentine a message saying they had come to Lake Arrowhead “for the calming, serene and thoughtful meditative environment.” She added that she told her team that “this dance activity was their opportunity to have open mindedness, flexibility and adaptability, something that in our nature of work is a given at any time. And,” she added, “the class allowed them to step outside their comfort zone.”

“It made me really feel good,” Valentine said, “that there are some applicable learning lessons from the dance class that transfer to the business world and teaching environment.”
