The members of the board of directors of the Crestline Chamber of Commerce and many community members came out to celebrate the Red Ribbon Cutting ceremony for the outdoor and camping store, The Fort Gregory Outdoor Company. Fort Gregory Outdoor Company was formerly located in the Top Town area of Crestline, but has recently moved to 23872 Lake Drive at the corner of Thousand Pines Road across from Bizzyland in the Lake Gregory Village area of town. The crowd in the front of the store attracted attention and horn honks as the 9 a.m. ceremony was occurring. Afterwards refreshments were offered to the attendees, including orange juice, coffee and delicious donuts. Indoors, many camping foods including campfire s’mores were shown, examined and bought by the attendees.

Store owners Ryan and Amber Kehler offer everything needed for camping and fishing, tackle for vacations, and many essentials that can be used for off-grid living. These items can come in handy when the power is out during summer or winter storms.

This was obviously on the top of many residents’ minds last week when some were evacuating in place at their homes, and they came in to purchase those off-grid items that make living so much easier when standard utilities may not be available. Some of those who left the Running Springs area found his items very helpful.

Last week the Kehlers held a bug-out seminar instructing the dozen attendees on the necessary items to take with you to easily survive when evacuating. This is but one of the many classes offered through the store by nature gatherers and hiking experts.

The retail store is open Thursday through Sunday. Their website, FortGregory.com, contains many items available for purchase and a list of their upcoming events and classes. Call Ryan at (818) 439-1428 for additional details.

Crestline Chamber of Commerce President Louis Boehle welcomed Ryan to the vibrant retail community of Crestline and thanked him for his confidence in helping the community come alive for the residents by offering another choice in the variety of our stores during the Sept 20th event. Some of the businesses represented from the chamber included Mike Johnstone from Goodwin’s Market, Boehle from Encompass Antiques, Sarah Green from Wears the Mountain and the Market at Lake Gregory, and Dirk Rinker from Campbell-Rinker.

Supervisor Dawn Rowe’s Rep Lewis Murray presented Ryan Kehler with a lovely Certificate of Recognition congratulating him on opening a store in the growing community of Crestline. Kehler said he will proudly hang the certificate on the wall in the store.

Ryan said, “I am thrilled to be able to bring Fort Gregory down to the Lake Gregory Village area, and to be able to serve my customers again. We will be offering seminars and classes in living within the offerings of this forest and enjoying the great outdoors. Come down and see our vast selection in our three showroom rooms of merchandise at Fort Gregory Outdoor Company.”
