In a festive atmosphere, attendees enjoyed balloon animals, free product samples from Oroweat and C4 Energy and the excitement of raffles. Local small businesses like Cafe Organix were also present, handing out vegan sweet treats and hot coffee to those who came to the opening. Overall, the event was filled with joy and anticipation, as locals eagerly explored the new store and super low-priced goods.

The Tuckers, who have a long-standing history in the retail business, first discovered Grocery Outlet while shopping in Rialto. They shared their journey from customers to business owners.

“We walked in not knowing what to expect, and we found a lot of fun,” Ryan Tucker said, reminiscing about the moment that led them to fall in love with the franchise. “The first thing we found was a $2 box of Oreos – my favorite cookie – and I was amazed. We kept coming back.” That experience sparked a long-standing relationship with the store, which eventually grew into a desire to open a location of their own.

The couple’s journey to open the Blue Jay store started in 2023 but faced some delays. “We’re really happy with how it turned out,” Ryan shared, reflecting on the final product. The store, which occupies two floors, was converted from what was once an office building and a movie theater, now transformed into a spacious and welcoming grocery outlet.

Local residents and officials gathered to celebrate the occasion, with several certificates of recognition presented to the Tuckers. San Bernardino County Supervisor Dawn Rowe’s representative, Tracy Hayes, spoke on behalf of the county, congratulating the owners for their dedication to the community. “We appreciate your commitment to Blue Jay,” Hayes remarked, highlighting the importance of their presence in the area.

The Tuckers also received recognition from other local figures, including a certificate presented by representatives for Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh, among others, further solidifying their warm welcome into the community. In addition, they made a generous $1,000 donation to Operation Provider, the local food bank, highlighting their commitment to giving back to the mountain communities.

They spoke with immense pride about their connection to the community and their decision to bring Grocery Outlet to Blue Jay. “We wanted to provide a different option for the community, something we thought was needed and would be appreciated,” Ryan said. “Thank you to everyone who helped make this dream come true.”

With doors now officially open, the Tuckers are eager to continue offering great deals on staple grocery items and more, providing both value and a wonderful start to a relationship with the local mountain communities.
